My answer to what if I'm wrong about god: "Our prisons are full of rapists, pedophiles, and murderers who find Jesus and pray for his forgiveness after they're convicted. If I am wrong in my beliefs, they are all going to heaven; so even if the nonsense in the bible were true, I'd rather go to hell with you guys.
Hitler was a Catholic and I'm sure he was baptized.
There's no 'if', Hitler was a Catholic. I've popped a link in for a bit of Hitchins that covers this, not for you but for anybody else that might want clarity
More than anything, what propelled me to atheism is the “my religion is right and your religion is wrong” mentality and the idea that “accepting” some form of “my” deity would forgive all your sins and get you into heaven. It sounded like BS when I was a kid and it has not gotten any better with the retelling through the years.
Only a cretin would believe that.
They lurk amongst us sis..just kidding they blatantly push their propaganda down our throats daily..
@Charlene Sad but true! ?
Any time I hear"people from other religions going to hell" question put to someone they have always said that its OK as long as they follow some religion. Basically only I'm going to hell..
It is not logical. If you take the, "any other religion is ok" position, then you have to include deists, and the idea that the supernatural is a mystery, only perhaps, reached by spirituality. And if they do that, then all their claims that religion is the only source of morallity etc. go out of the window. Religion has to be exclusive and divisive, because in the end; the tribal " we are special" is all it has to offer.
Religion in general isn't logical. Sometimes when I hear this I make sure and casually let.them know I am an opinionated athiest afterward at some point. Only if I am inactive position where they already respect me and also remember saying that in front of me. It's usually the kinder more liberal Christians that say that ank I know it will make them feel crappy.
Ain't all of here going there...ha!?
Hell would be pretty crowded as there are plenty of others who had no chance of "Knowing Christ" either because they were not born or because they lived outside the middle east.
I don't know, if anyone ever said that to me, that I could resist the urge to
punch them in the throat.
I'd probably have to go to jail. Which I accept.
Me too..
Ladies , no worries ! hello ? I got this . I ll be there waiting for u . Will decorate cell for u and will keep the drinks cold .
Her religion didn't tell her that nonsense - that's her interpretation or the result of brainwashing from someone she turned to that didn't understand religious doctrine any more than she did.
Ahhh no.Christianity Does in fact teach that. If you don't "accept jesus" as the saviour, you go to hell after death.
She got her information from someone who did not understand history either. ( If you want religion it is a good idea not to seek understanding or knowledge of any real subject.)
@SLBushway Actually I was taught this was true when as a child I attended catholic school.
That is really fucked up...but in reality, there is neither hell or heaven so they are all just dead.
