To all of the others out there who don't have an actual picture of yourself posted for the world to see - why don't you? I'm told there are a lot of reasons. I'm curious to know why not.
I love camels after having worked with them for some time
I agree! All of Darwin's creatures are beautiful!
Atheism is punishable by death penalty under the laws of theocratic dictatorships (including where I live). So, not posting your picture can save you a lot of trouble to say the least. Not that I give a fuck, though! Atheism is the fastest-growing affiliation in terms of God claims here, and there is nothing the government can do about it. Nevertheless, you can't be too careful when something of this nature can become a matter of life and death. Also, I have a lot of friends and relatives living in the Bible Belt who have told me amazing stories about how difficult it is to live as an atheist there, with a church on every fucking street corner. Who would want to deal with that bullshit because of a picture they have posted on some website?
Those are good reasons!
Basic privacy and online safety. People can find you from real life. People on here can more easily find and confirm your true identity.
I work in a large Christian nursing home. My kids go to school in a small town. Rumors happen. Finding a coworker or a friends parent on a nitch dating site would be hilarious and very sharable.
I work for a Christian hospital and live in semi small religious town. Ive considered taking down my picture but I guess if anyone from work was on here, maybe we'd become friends? Have you considered not putting up a picture or taking yours down?
I find it a bit creepy, but that’s just me. If they don't want to put up a picture of themselves they could at least put something more interesting than a blank face.
@irascible I’m fine with your icon...it’s interesting, unlike a blank face like cipher.
I'm not photogenic and it's hard to take a good picture of me. But I would expect that not offering a photo would be a deal breaker for a man, Being able to see whether I find the sight of him appealing matters to me, so it's only fair that I be willing to put myself on display in exchange.
There’s a good amount of people here for community not to date. It’s completely up to them what they do and do not put as thier avatar.
If someone is here to date and doesn’t, that’s a red flag to me.
