Can a caucasian say I’m proud to be a straight man or is that sexist and homophobic?

I am afraid that some words today carry colloquial definitions that are not based on etymology, lexicography or philology, but have instead acquired meanings based on nothing more than the worst possible connotations that can be inferred from them or from the presuppositions derived from their antonyms.
It is the product of a deeply misguided pseudo logic to believe that in order not to give, or to defend against offense one must take offense preemptively at everything and anything said or done by those assumed to be an enemy of anyone assumed to be a universal victim in need of a savior.

Did you battle hard to achieve that or is it just the way it always was????
IMO to be Proud means you actually Did something, not just stood there.
Are you proud that you breath regularly too?
I stopped breathing once ( Congestive Heart Failure) and so Now sometimes I feel proud I am still breathing, (not as easily as before, but bygawd still here!) but never once beforehand.....never.

It's often been said that pride comes before the fall. That aside, I think everyone should be free to be proud of whatever they see fit to take pride in, and pride such as that only becomes a problem when one starts to manipulate and coerce others into supporting only your views.

So no, nothing sexist or homophobic per se about being proud of one's sexual orientation, although personally speaking I could think of a number of other qualities about myself that I'd take potential pride in before being proud of my straight sexual orientation. Some of the things my fellow human beings take pride in does make me wonder...

Kind of a rediculous question? I don't think anyone of any ethnicity would be sexist or homophobic by saying that. But seeing as being a Caucasian and/or straight is pretty much out of someone's control I can't see there's much to be proud of.

I believe people should be proud of anything they want to be proud. How ever, I live in New York but I wouldn't wear anything that says "I love ? New york" I won't wear anything that says "Black and Proud. " For me I just be. And for every one else should be able to be as who they want how they want

Doesn't appear on the face of things that you have had any barriers to overcome. I am also a straight man. I feel neither pride nor shame, but if you feel pride then that is fair enough

I'm proud to be a woman, as we are working so hard taking steps in being equal, no matter what color we are, or what sexual preferences we were born to be. as long as you do not think being white is superior to being a dark-skinned man, or you don't think being born to be straight is superior to being born with some other sexual intent. I think being born white and straight has its advantages, but not because I think white is better, it's just more accepted by the hypocrites in the world. being white certainly means your life will be easier, being straight will mean some redneck won't want to harm you or kill you, not that only rednecks make it their business as to who sleeps with who, lots of educated people, can also be ignorant, and think who sleeps with who is their business also . I personally think a statement like that you are happy to be you, would not put a negative tone to the statement.

Makes you sound stupid. I am proud to have freckles- see how stupid that sounds? Why would we be proud we did not accomplish?

1

you can say whatever you want, I think saying something like that is a bit silly since no one is attacking you but it is your life not mine.

I'm not sure that I understand the question.

Why does your heritage have any bearing on your sexuality?

Pride is usually used to describe an achievement - has it been a struggle for you to become heterosexual and white?

Not at all. There is nothing wrong with being straight and proud. I have Irish Pride. But the trouble starts when you start telling others they aren't worthy and putting them down. That's all.

Welcome to the internet where reactions are made up and intent don't matter.
