Let's say you told a lie, a very big lie, but you then tell the truth after about a year. Are you weak for giving into the stress or are you strong for facing the music of the truth?

The only way to tell a story consistently over long periods of time is to tell the truth

Either way, you're a shady fucker and I'm going to have a hard time trusting you going forward.

Interesting. I love all of these responses. I posted the question in light of what Cohen did yesterday. He came clean. He lied to Congress a year ago and then, in light of Evidence supporting the truth, a plea bargain was made. Lies are horrible wheather it was then or now. I love my fellow heathens! I love our community. Our morals are strong without a damn Bible!

I don't lie in the first place. That's the way mom raised me.

I don't know...if the truth is going to hurt someone I'd keep the lie story straight and let it die. weak or strong I couldn't say.

You make sense. I agree sometimes it's not necessary to hurt someone with the truth if nobody is hurt by the lie.

After a year, who benefits from the truth?

If they're better off, it's a good thing.

If you're just feeling guilty and they're not better off, it was selfish.

Agreed.

Or have they just been caught out

Cohen was pretty much caught. I think that's why he had to finally come clean.
