Well, your neighbors might have not reached "the age of reason" yet. It's from their book. Shove that in their face! I was a Catholic, and a devout one. Lots of times people will ignore all the evidence in the world. I reached the age when I was in my early 20's.

@TheGreatShadow They are in their early 70s. One of them is on the board of directors of Catholic Charities. I'm sure they do actual good in the community, and they do not want to abandon that. Plus, that organization gets only about 1% of its finances from the mother church.

It is not as if harms and boons generally present themselves so lopsidedly one way or the other that moral decisions are trivial. So I don't judge them, but for me, the whole pedophile priest thing is several bridges too far.
