Sometimes I wonder if the Native Americans took this land themselves. I mean, all throughout human history, humans have taken land from humans. There's evidence there was other, older cultures in North America before what is considered Native American culture. Sure, you can say that Native Americans are just descendents of those older cultures.. but I mean if you look at it that way, then we are all just really descendents of one another. There's evidence that there was multiple human migrations into North America when there was a land bridge, the people we know of as Native Americans more than likely came from the last migration.
So I can't consider America stolen land as it was most likely continually stolen. That's just the way the world of humanity, life in general works.
I do agree that no one should be considered illegal. I'm not saying just let anyone in without going through some sort of check system, but I think anyone who isn't coming here with intent to harm the people already living here, they should be allowed in. That's another constant throughout history, people migrating from one area to another to better their life. Why be a dick and try to stop someone from wanting a better life?
The only reason I can see to not wanting to allow immigrants in is because part of you feels like they're basically stealing from you. Stealing your land, stealing your jobs, stealing your country.. which would mean part of you acknowledges you're living on stolen land. Whether you're proud or disgusted by that, just depends on who you are I guess.
Some people say that immigrants steal jobs. I say many of them perform the jobs that no one else will do.
While I get the sentiment, there is not a lot we can do except accept our past and learn from it...I don't know how this is any different than those who cling to the "South will rise again" crap...at what point do we move on...right the wrongs the best we can and don't repeat it...
I guess the point of this is to bring to light the ridiculousness of our current immigration policies?
They need fixing...the policies and systems...don't blame the people.
