Companies everywhere are flocking like wild sheep to become more diverse, hiring more LGBTQ+ folks, more ethnically diverse people, more culturally diverse people. I am, without question, completely in favor of this. But, I am a straight, white Male. Is it possible to be discriminated against for lacking cultural diversity, ethnic diversity, lgbtq+ diversity? Just a random thought. Do I have less leverage due to my lack of diversity?
As an employer I don't care what orientation you are. As long as you make the company an enjoyable place to work and contribute you're good in my book.
My employer chases diversity, HR is not shy in admitting it, and even posts a demographic of all the diversity they have in the HR office, showing who we have, and who they strive to have.
@SoullessHeathen You're not wrong in some instances such as colleges and other government organizations the organization gets more money to staff or accept minorities. I have also trained my predecessor, who was from the Philippines, to take over my old job. She was paid much less than I was and worked much harder. Is it right or wrong? I don't know to be honest. There will be some companies that strive to be inclusive in an exclusive way there is also long history of white males that have run the roost that can not just be pushed under the rug. There is still a plethora of jobs where employers don't care who or what you are. Find those or start working for yourself and you will be just fine.
@McWalsoft I don't fear for my job, I've been gainfully employed here for 9 years, and business continues to grow and overwhelm us. We are hiring, and they pay handsomely. My manager chooses applicants, and I am part of the interview process. I have just noticed a trend of those I have been interviewing. As long as they come in willing to learn, and motivated to work, I don't care what their background is, or what they do in their personal life. It is irrelevant to me.
Sometime,s they may be more qualified than you. Companies want talented people.
My company HR posts demographics of who they hire, most obviously because they don't necessarily hire on talent alone, but to purposely diversify
No, what it means is that those people that have been discriminated against forever are finally being seen as equals. Concern yourself with your own skill set and stay positive and never play the victim.. ie; right wing nut job.
Hahaha, I'm not right wing, I'm an anarcho-socialist. Here we go with the right vs left jargon again... never fails to appear.
@SoullessHeathen I’m not saying you were( I know from your other posts you’re not), that’s the kind of thinking that sends people down that rabbit hole.
