4 days before my dad died I got out his navy scrap book and asked him a lot of questions about his service in wwII. He told me when you are on a ship you worry about planes, other ships and submarines. Fear was always there. "We were just kids". My dad was a man of few words, but those words spoke volumes. We need to stop glorifying war. Now it needs to end.

If humanity does not stop war, war will stop humanity . . . . nuclear weapons are going to be used eventually, if they are kept around . . . . one only needs to understand statistics to see that.

Salute your father sir and as someone was sent to one of our wars I totally agree but sadly we’re gonna have to cut the money off and by that I mean get away from the federal reserve and those who own it and then cut our military budget to where we only have what we need to protect ourselves and then finally eliminate the branch clandestine services of the CIA.

So yeah that’s half of what it would take.

Modern war, which I consider to have become such with WWI, is an ugly business run by old, ugly people.

They say, "Rich man's war. Poor man's fight." 😉

War is the failure of diplomacy. War is both sides resorting to mass murder and stooping to the lowest barbarity.

Same with my dad. He was a gunners mate 3rd class on a destroyer in WWII. Never talked about the war in the Pacific. He said the were most affraid of kamikazes.

As a Retired Navy Guy... I Thank You for Your Father's Service and Sacrifice. There is No Glory in War. Those who glorify it... Never Served.

True

My dad served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Gulf War...he said the same thing...he saw some horrible things that he never talked about to the women in his family but he told our spouses...his final tour was at the War College in Carlisle...the motto was to Prepare for War to Preserve Peace...meaning, find other ways to find solutions, not war...

@thinktwice My Son served Physical Security in Afghanistan, changed him for life. I Thank You for Your Father's Service and Sacrifice My Dear Friend.

@GipsyOfNewSpain It also changes the lives of the family, doesn't it? War is not to be taken lightly by our leaders...

@thinktwice Should never be taken lightly.... Mothers, Widows, Children... always Suffer the Loss... and there is always that... "For What?" That politicians never understand.
