It is perhaps even more than true. More accurate would be 10,000 cookies and the overweight guy takes 9999 and ...
I fear that a number of Americans just don't pay attention long enough to actually understand.
Yeah, I too thought 1,000 was a bit low, but the point is still well made.
Only if the "billionaire" is 45. There are others who don't operate that way.
Some, not enough. Nor, not the majority.
@Beowulfsfriend That's true, but in this case, it really applies to 45.
@KKGator Definitely applies to 45, but we only see him because he seeks to be in the lime l;ight. For every billionaire in the lime light there are thousands who do the saem sort of thing, only they wish to keep quiet as they are well aware of what happened (to the rich) in the French revolution.
Typical false liberal meme.
You truly are a lost cause.
And just what is false about it? I guess reality is not in your view.
@KKGator I know you are not lost, but it does kind look funny when you are sayign that and yusing an Alice in Wonderland pick as an avatar.
As for Trajoan61, he brings to mind a quote from Mark Twain, "It is much easier to foll a man than it is to convince a man he has been fooled." Conservatism, (a tleast as it is practiced int eh U.S.), is more liek a religion. People are sold a bill of goods and theories which are nto really based on real world facts. When facts that contradict what they believe are presented to them they ignore or deny the existence of those facts. Mostly because their beliefs are based in or on thier own fears.
@KKGator I guess you'd have to be familiar with the dialogue ithe (Diney animated) movie or in the origihnal book. I believe in both they said "I am lost". So, I just found your comment "No, I am not lost at all." to be funny because you were using the Alice in Wonderland avatar. I am in agreement with your views, it ws just the juxtaposition of that particular statement coming form that particular avatar that gave me a little laugh. That's all.
No, not as I see it. If I came to a table with a thousand cookies, I would know that the cookies didn't just appear out of nowhere. I would know that someone made those cookies and they belong to someone. Whoever the cookies belong to has the right to determine how they are distributed. And, hopefully, all three (the billionaire, the worker, and the immigrant) are "workers."
Do you know how to become a billionaire, in a free market? You have to create and produce something of value to hundreds of thousands, millions, or billions of people. You can't force people to buy your products. You have to create something that is of more value to your customers than the amount of money they pay. As a byproduct, you make hundreds of thousands, millions, or billions of people's lives better. Another byproduct is that in the process of creating a valuable product, you employ thousands of people. Billionaires, such as Billl Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Steve Jobs, have created amazing products and services, that have made the lives of millions of people better. Their billions were earned and they should be admired for their genius. What could be more moral?
That is a very one sided way of looking at it. You are not taking into context a lot of things like media, and marketing. There is an incredible lot of rubbish being made and sold, thanks to great marketing. Stuff that we don't need and doesn't help us in any kind of way.
@sfvpool "Threats" come in many disguises, very insidious it can be. We buy stuff all the time that we don't need but feel the we should have, ie, new phones or electrical gadgets, dvd's of movies we "have" to watch, restaurants we "have" to try out, etc, etc. This all regardless of free will.
@Jolanta You may not have free will, but I do. And, yes, I sometimes purchase things I don't "need", depending on your definition of "need", but I have never been coerced to buy anything, except by the government. I love new gadgets, DVDs, etc., and they make my life more enjoyable. Do I need them? Not if I just want to survive without pleasure. But I don't want a life like that.
