If anyone believes this, it's an obvious failure of education. If anyone finds it amusing, they have failed at satire.

I read it at PZ Myers' blog, Pharyngula, and followed it to a Facebook page that commented on it. Both Myers and the Facebook post where I found it discussed it as a serious (and ignorant) post. Myers commented that he's had to explain basic biology before. I can't believe that anyone who gets to or out of high school (without some sort of mental impairment -- I hate using the word in this case as anyone who thinks this has serious mental issues, regardless of having an IQ above room temperature) can think that menstruation can be stopped by something other than heavy exercise, pregnancy, some forms /uses of birth control, or menopause.

It may have been meant as facetious. If not, they are ignorant of basic biology.
