Something that always comes to mind when the issue of our genetic ancestry is discussed. It has to do the the Machiavellian aspects of who we are that often come to the forefront.

It's a quote from comedian Colin Quinn. He said it explains a lot to remember, "We didn't evolve from the tribe that starved to death waiting for their turn at the dinner table."

The world has ALWAYS been full of bastards. It's not a new concept.

In any circumstance, scientific or social, there is one golden rule, shit and scum always rises to the top and call themselves the cream.

when there are only bastards, the least bastardly will be seen as the good guy to be dumped upon, when he is gone, the next least worst will take his place.

The Earth experiences its next bottleneck. Perhaps a coronal mass ejection shorts out the power grid. Maybe an asteroid impact.... Perhaps Yellowstone blows it caldera.
