As Atheists don't ask for Thoughts and Prayers in honor of my good friend being re diagnosed I would like to say
Lung Cancer in this case.
It's going to suck. Cancer always sucks.
Post cats or jokes or something.
I agree fuck cancer. My dad has that shit.
Breast Cancer took my Mom - and Colon Cancer took my Brother in Law - I do not like Cancer. Let me know if I can ever help with information.
Sorry to hear such, suffering through any type of cancer is not fair to anyone. My one neighbor who is also a good friend of mine, is dealing with breast cancer for a third time now, she hasn't been doing too good lately.
My Mom had breast cancer twice and the second time it killed her - so I'm familiar.
I also had breast cancer and survived. So if you ever need to talk. I'm around.
I really hate Cancer.
@RavenCT That's understandable. Glad to hear you were able to beat yours, hope it stays in remission.
@SpikeTalon If I'm ever diagnosed again - it would be considered a new Cancer. It's been 9 years now. Woot!
@RavenCT Since you reminded me about those photos I shared in the HH group, this was something I had considered doing as well, but first though did you ever hear of the Sixty Mile Men? In short, it was a group of/for men that wanted to do charity for cancer research (I think specifically breast cancer) and they did a calendar to raise money that featured, you guessed it, naked dudes discreetly covered. My neighbor I had mentioned who dealt (still is battling) with breast cancer is quite active in the local branch of breast cancer survivors group, and her eldest daughter passed away at age forty from esophageal cancer, that was in 2012. A year before I had talked with my neighbor about that charity calendar, and strongly considered giving it a go, and wanted to do a dedication photo shoot to her for her battle with breast cancer (that just means adding a dedication along with the photo shoot). Then the following year her daughter lost her two-year long battle with cancer. I had then thought about doing a dedication to her daughter, but in 2013 the Sixty Mile Men discontinued their charity calendar for unknown reasons, so I never got the chance. Now, some six years later I can't even find alot on the SMM on the internet for some reason, a shame they decided on such as I heard that calendar was fairly popular. Another story from my past there...
@SpikeTalon Makes me think of the Movie "Calendar Girls" at the opposite end of the age spectrum - and I think it had zero to do with cancer? (It's been a while since I saw it).
It's a nice way to raise funds. We have a lot of groups that raise money doing various things. I have a cousin who participates in the Pan Mass Challenge every year (A bike race) to earn money towards Breast Cancer funding. He turned 60 this year and he's still doing a race from Sturbridge, MA out to Cape Cod. Not a short trip.
But his Mom had it - as did my Mom (twice) - and every single one of his female 1st cousins. So it's either that - or well... he just feels bad for us. Instead he's being proactive and we love him for it.
Too bad they discontinued the calendar? I wonder what a Google search for Cancer Calendars would bring up? Never too late!
@RavenCT This is all I can find on them now- [60milemen.typepad.com] and you would see 2013 was the cutoff date. I had more chats with my neighbor over if she knew about any similar groups that were local, but she wasn't aware of any directly related charity drives. Nowadays I just donate money to Susan G Komen, the last few years I've had a rather hectic work schedule and mostly likely wouldn't have the time to dedicate to such endeavors as I mentioned above. Still, never know what the future has in store though, work schedules can and do change...
