Volunteering... it's an important community contribution. Do you volunteer and if so what do you do?
I have participated in volunteer programs everywhere I've lived. Currently, I am teaching arts and crafts with the seniors at the local center. I think I might also do the story time at the local kindergarten. All of my efforts have been with either children or seniors but there are many programs out there.
The benefits work both ways. I get as much as I give.
What volunteer projects are you involved in?
I work over 40 hours per week, and I have a side business, just no time. Somehow, I fit exercise and music into this. I'm 64.
I volunteer as much as I have time for. I play music for seniors and at a rehab hospital and a veterans home.
I don't volunteer, I run two jobs all of the time and three at election time so spare time is at a premium. But I work with adults with additional support needs and the volunteer sector is an absolute life saver in being able to find someone a work related activity which gives them purpose, companionship and self esteem.
Through my work I help staff a project manned by volunteers at Quarr Abbey on the Isle of Wight UK. It gives adult with additional needs, and who like gardening, the chance to get out, get dirty and make friends and as a rarity it's free to access
I volunteer at the Field Museum of Natural History.
I hope to work full time either as an archaeologist or at the AMNH.
Here’s hopping. ?
It is a bit limiting living in the country, but I find time to help with the village itself, help to run two sports clubs though I don't play much myself, I help to run a couple of gardening clubs, it was once three but I had to give one up because it was too far away. And I manage a couple of websites for groups.
