I moved October 1 and sold all my furniture including the TV. It's been 4 months now that I haven't watched TV. Other than the news, I don't miss it.
I'll probably get one for movies, but try not to watch much else. Has anyone else tried living without TV?

I am giving away four TVs that I no longer use. We "cut the cord" years ago, but kept the biggest screen to use as a monitor for streaming movies and sharing stuff on the net. I have never missed television programming.

I'm enjoying books more than TV. 15 years is a long time - congratulations!

Try newspaper...online versions are ridiculously chepl and kill no trees nor generate waste.
You will find that when you Read the news, you can pause & reflect: does it make sense? Does it jibe with what you know to be true? You can reread! And etc...When you are listening, your critical faculties are suspended because you have to listen hard to the words spewing in your direction.

I did subscribe to the Washington Post online, but they tell me they can't find a subscription under my email. I do plan to get the email version of the Buffalo News. I like the idea that it is much more environmentally friendly. It's great that you've been able to go so long without TV.

@Tom4reason oh, that's other people. I love binge-watching things on Netflix...no commercials!

Hi. I do have a tv but I haven’t had cable in 6 years. I have my tv for watching movies or playing games since my PC is hooked up to it. I don’t miss watching tv at all and feel like I have a lot more time now.

It looks like you've managed to eliminate the junk and still get some benefit from TV. That might be where I end up.

@Tom4reason
It has worked really well for me. And I save a lot of every month because cable is pricey!!

no but you can get older style tv's for free now. I have 2.

It isn't the cost, it's learning to use TV in a beneficial way without letting it get to be too important.
