Do you try to sing karaoke?
I last tried at my brother's wedding. After 14 beers, according to my daughter, I sang "American Pie" with her best friend.
That's how you do weddings right!
And there's the reason weddings should be videotaped.
Not anymore. I had a moment where I did it all the time. I loved it. It was fun. It passed.
Yes, I have done it last time I sang it was "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane.
@LimitedLight Karaoke not the original, LOL.
Yes, I "sing" karaoke. LOL!
There are some songs I think I do a decent job with, but one never really knows for sure since we have to gauge things based on audience reaction (we can't hear ourselves sing). Some songs I feel I do aiight with include:
Sweet Caroline, and Cracklin' Rosie (Neil Diamond)
Friends in Low Places (Garth Brooks, and I'm not even a CM fan)
Electric Avenue (Eddy Grant)
Should I Stay or Should I Go, and Rock the Casbah (The Clash)
Takin' Care of Business (BTO)
Horse with No Name and Sister Golden Hair (America)
Brown Eyed Girl (Van Morrison)
A friend has dragged me onstage to "help" her sing some REO Speedwagon songs, but my testicles dropped a long time ago so I struggle with those. I love Billy Idol and have done White Wedding a few times, but struggle with that too. I can get through some Eagles songs and some Blue Oyster Cult as well.
Funny Karaoke story: My ex (who used to say there ain't enough booze in the bar to get me up there!) likes to sing karaoke and even took some voice lessons. One song she does that always brings the house down (mainly because it's a rap tune and she's a middle-aged white woman, LOL!) is Funky Cold Medina, by Tone Loc. A couple of years ago we were on a Caribbean cruise and she sang it and it brought the ship down. That was the only song she sang that night. I sang two or three. But she made such an impression that everywhere we went on the ship for the rest of the cruise, she would get called out as the karaoke lady. It was hilarious.
I started singing karaoke a few years ago. I seem to be pretty good at it, but the songs have to be in a lower range, like Buffett or Elvis.
I did karaoke. It helped me get over my stage fright. Now I sing and play guitar at open mics
I've done it a few times. The last time I remember was at a bar singing "Only The Good Die Young" by Billy Joel.
I’ve sang Paul Revere once at a crappy bar, and my son and I stayed up all night playing Rock Band on PS3 lol it had a microphone unlike Guitar Hero.
Yes, I used to do it drunk but it's a whole different thing sober but I have done it and would do it and I've been applauded sometimes.
I don't try. I actually do. Usually every Friday and or Saturday night. I've been told on many occasions that I'm pretty good.
post video!
I had one once but couldn't find it when I last looked.
OMG. It's on YouTube. I remembered I had sent it to a friend via Messenger.
@LimeySteve Neil Sedaka falsetto soprano sucks and his song is worse
Everyone has their opinion.
If already familiar with the arrangement, key and lyrics it can be fun. Reading lyrics one doesn't already know takes away, even if in tempo and an key. Karaoke can be like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates...
No, but I can clap and cheer a good performance. I been known to danceraoke more than once "singing in the rain". I love puddles.
I'm not Huey Lewis and would not be cast in a remake of DUETs but I do sing on key and love my repertoire of songs.... karaoke is poorly scrolling lyrics and often the tempo is choppy digitalized with instrumentation from the artist's back up....the system is bound to make good amateur singers sound bad in a bar full of drunks
