Thomas Jefferson original handwritten Declaration of Independence stated “the inherent and inalienable right to freedom” which meant anyone would be free.

Congress, read “the 1% landowners who also owned slaves” removed the wording “inherent.” Effectively removing the idea that freedom was not inherent and thus slaves were not included.

True Freedom, then as it is today, is for the select few. The removal of inherent has had long lasting effects which included slavery, non-voting, segregation, and red hats.

Everyone forgets that if some of these men or their fathers had been granted lordships by the crown that document would’ve never existed and eventually by decree from the throne slavery would’ve been abolished.

So our decree of independence with or without the word inherent perpetuated slaverys existence.
And was supposed to be the purpose of the constitution and our bill of rights to mandate the rights and freedoms of individuals as well as the limitations of power within our government.

Jefferson and several others believed that these articles should be reviewed and reconfigured at least every other generation in order to be appropriate with the attitudes and customs of that current time.

If this had been followed then most likely slavery would’ve been repealed or the states would’ve broken from a central government sooner.

But none of that happened and we are where we are now still trying to govern one of the greatest diverse societies with ideologies that were put in place to distinguish the ruled from the rulers.

@Marcel3405 Every other generation roughly every 40 years and yes all of it due to possible religious ideologies, changes in population, loss or gain of territory as well as allies and adversaries.

So instead we decreed it to be our holy document where we can add or subtract but never truly erase and start over.

But don’t worry there’s powers that are working on that they just need for us to explode first so I suggest to everyone to ask why are we being told who are enemies are especially those from within?

We should fight to have it put back in, I know it would have to be an amendment but it should be in there. Yes there were a few things that he had in the first draft that he wanted that was removed as to get all 13 colonies to get on board with it.

I think it's about time we recognized that the so-called "founding fathers" had no clue what society would be like today and we should stop looking to their antiquated views for guidance.
