Father of Parkland shooting victim responds to Louis CK’s controversial comedy routine

Amazing... an American got offended...
That's your takeaway? Anyone of any nation would be offended when they're directly a parent of the victim. Other than the gossip value this wouldn't even be news. I used to like Louis a lot, now I'm just really disappointed in him. Not because of his material but his behavior. I didn't hear the joke but I've heard comics I respect say his new stuff is just dog shit in general. Poor attempts at being edgy that, like whispers said, just come off lazy and bitter.
I don't think there's any topic thats inherently offlimits for a good comedian; I've got a really dark sense of humor and anthony jeselnik and louis' old material proves that you can find a genius way to walk the line and make the butt of the joke something other than the victims. Theres still always gonna be someone who was traumatized directly enough not to wanna hear it though and thats perfectly justified too. Regardless Louis is currently pretty rusty and falling fall short of that quality standard it takes to pull off jokes like that. Even if he got back to the top of his game I don't think I could enjoy it from him though.
Comedians often have a problem finding the line:
Three weeks after the September 11 attacks, Gilbert Gottfried joked that he had intended to catch a plane, but could not get a direct flight because "they said they have to stop at the Empire State Building first".
