A coworker asked me today, "what do you Pagans eat for Thanksgiving?"
Um. . .
Pagans, lol. I have a few friends that are "Odinic" pagans. They actually believe in the old Norse Eddas. They eat turkey on thanks giving.
When, as an Atheist, I was asked the same question. I rephrased it back to them as "Who do we eat?"
Lol
Unicorns with blood of the unborn gravy. For dessert we dance naked under the stars and howl at the moon.
Once I merged with myself...everyday is a day of Thanksgiving! Sometimes I go out of my way and prepare something special, at other times, just everyday fruits and vegetables...sometimes meat! We can keep in mind, that we once knew less...than what we know now!
Whatever we want. And no long prayers beforehand, either!
What would the expression on the coworker's face be if you said "You realize that Thanksgiving is set by and for the government, right? There is no religious component to the holiday. None at all"
Surprisingly I can remember my parents going to Roman Catholic Mass on Thanksgiving morning?
@RavenCT Exactly. Religion is trying to horn in on a purely secular holiday and will, given time, appropriate it as their own holiday. Like they've done with Christmas and Easter.
Lol were they joking? Sounds like a funny joke to me. I mostly like medium rare baby seals and chickens blood to drink. Fermented baby tears if it's an adult party.
fermented baby tears...sparkling or not?
@btroje sparkling is more of a new years thing for me
I grew up in churches, and when I asked the Sunday school teacher what a pagan was, she said it was anyone who is not a Christian.
Christians aren't exactly known for fact-checking.
Yea...accurate definitions don't seem to be their top priority.
To them it is actually that simple. There is them and everyone else and if are not one of them then by default, you worship the devil.
Technically, pagan is anyone belonging to a religion that is not to do with the abrahamic god. E.g. christians, muslims, jews.
Every time I'm this appalled it's someone at it again in the Bible Belt.
Thanksgiving isn't a religious observance anyway? Unless you are a vegan the answer is probably Turkey?
I know I'd be tempted to say "Look up Donner Pass". Because intrusive people need dumb answers. But yup.
What did you say? (I know my mouth would just be hanging open).
@JodyThompson "Snort!".
