Urging US to be apathetic: I see quite a few replies/posts on here saying "what's the use, we have no power, just give up, blah, blah, blah"
The recent elections, with the Huge changes they brought, (and more to come) Prove this is a False ASSumption. It may be a way to get you & I to opt out, when the Truth is, our votes do matter, and can bring badly-needed change!
For just one glaring example, what do you suppose would be going on in DC right now if Mitch McEvil was out of there?

When I feel discouraged, I remember a quote by Ken Burns: "We too often make choices based on the safety of cynicism, and what we're led to is a life not fully lived. Cynicism is fear--and it's worse than fear--it's active disengagement." The issues I care about are being affected by the current president and by members of the GOP who support DT through thick and thin. Therefore resistance is essential on a personal level. Resistance coupled with a better way forward for this country. It really has felt like we've been moving backward in so many ways. The hard won successes of the Obama administration are being dismantled. It really is time for Democrats to push forward again with a message of optimism and pragmatism. And the tide will turn with an engaged population that is well aware of the harm done by the Trump presidency and by Republican incompetence and corruption.

We made a difference in the 2018 election, we need to make a bigger difference and get more progressives to vote. Never give up; if you don't play the lottery, you cannot win.

I don't have the time to run for office myself... But 2018 was the first year I have donated money to any politician or political party... $1,250 worth. I'll be watching who will be worth even more in 2020!!
