Not complaining, nor campaigning for change, simply making an observation about this online meeting place.

The term "Agnostic" is seemingly a softer, gentiler, and perhaps a disingenuous, way of saying Atheist, because, saying one does not believe in a supernatural, invisible, all powerful, being unless verifiable, reliable, and convincing, evidence can be presented is exactly what a true Atheist is.

Yet, there are many here that claim to believe in such a supernatural being, at least to a percentage. Which begs the question, why are they here?

Anyone care to speculate on why a "Believer" would join an Atheist site?

They are spying on us. Reporting back to the mother ship about the evils being perpetrated by the members. I'm almost sure of it. Some of the male believers come here thinking they might get laid by these heathen women. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hmm well I'm nominally a sort of "believer," but I guess mostly what William said ๐Ÿ™‚

I am neither an atheist nor a believer. I donโ€™t think that belief is an appropriate emotion in the face of the overwhelming fact of our existence as conscious beings. No one understands Ultimate Reality. The only appropriate emotion as I see it is a sense of awe and wonder.

It makes not one bit of difference what word you use to label Ultimate Reality. If you want to say โ€œGodโ€, that is ok with me. โ€œNatureโ€ works as well, or Universal Consciousness too.

The reason I like this forum is that there are a good many courageous and intelligent people here who have rejected shallow church dogmas and are full of stimulating thoughts and ideas.
