Laws and Bans do nothing to combat addiction.
Addicts don't even care if they die. Why the heck would they care about jail time or fines? I doubt many addicts even pay their fines.
We need real treatment center that can last housing each voluntary individual until they are clean for at least a year. No one has much of a chance of staying clean after being dry for a few days or weeks. Look at how many need to go back to rehab centers again and again.
We need safe injection sites and continue distributing naloxone kits and fresh needles. Addicts will use regardless, so let's give them a chance to live long enough to seek help and find another reason to live. Besides there will be less mess if they have a safe, warm dry place to inject.
All health issues are important and should not be prioritized as one more urgent or important than the next. Every health issue for every person must be addressed and fully funded by the government.

We have the money and the means to help all people, with most problems both inside and outside our country, especially if we collaborate with other countries and prioritize people and the environment over profit for the powerful.
