The greatest thing about discovering your independence and capabilities is knowing you can do almost anything. Yes, I'm moving all these cut pieces with my friend. No problem!

They are big heavy looking lumps of timber, but should roll ok with a bar to get them going. Pity you didn't leave the stump at fence height - you could have carved something beautiful there.

I'm going to be extending the deck over the stump; otherwise, that would've been a great idea.

If your friend is a forklift that doesn't count.

A 22 year old former student. I'm lucky we didn't kill us both. Please don't ask about the fence.

@ElusiveMoby just don't hurt yourself! Remember what Clint Eastwood said, "a man's gotta know his limitations".

@mooredolezal This is the second time I've heard these words recently. I probably need them.?

Years ago I saw photos of thousands of Chinese building a large dam by dumping baskets of earth to block the river. Hey.... look how the Egyptians built the pyramids. People are amazing....

Are you using steel wedges to split them first? Wear eye & ear protection if so! It’s amazing how much you can learn to do, if almost alone. Sure miss splitting wood, even with wedges and mauls.. Enjoy ~

I'm only moving the wood. A friend if mine will split it this summer.

@ElusiveMoby Wish I could visit with my collection of steel wedges and mauls.. It looks like the Ponderosa 😀 I miss splitting rounds … looking for the ‘wind split,’ or natural center crack that develops as they dry, then dodging knots while lining up several wedges across the face. It’s powerful magic!

Never could get my daughters interested, though. But as a boy, I learned it took no real strength when using a small sledge and wedges. But steel wedges aren’t cheap.. And once, a piece of steel shot off and embedded in my arm; only once, but that had me wearing goggles forever more.

Kept my wedges sharp and their mushrooming tops ground straight, and painted - red. Hauled em from Oregon to Appalachia ...if never to be used again..
