It's really annoying. Religion shouldn't be imposed. Because it has no logic in it. I bet the Bible was written just by random guys like a fairytale to frighten children. If you don't eat this soup, you'll go to hell or smth like that. It doesn't deserve our attention, except for the day of an atheist. You know, I will definitely include it in my calendar 2023. Guys, let's just stay aware. And as Jobs said, "stay foolish stay hungry." Btw, you know, I feel so relieved after having said it all. This forum is the best place.
That's one you won't be hearing about on the news, especially the locals. They still swoon and take every opportunity to shove god and Christianity in your face. I was watching a report a few nights ago about the Alabama tornado destruction and they were interviewing a woman who was going on and on, thanking Jesus for saving her and her family. I was lime, "WTH?" What about all the other poor people killed? We're they not godly enough? ARGH! The logic of children.
Anyway, enough ranting. Happy Atheist day!!!
"I was lime" Lol.. 'Like'
Ugh damn Austinites ruin everything. Glad I left. Everyone wants a spotlight. There is no “Christian day” “Muslim day” or “Jew day” (as well as the 1000+ other religions out there) those are religious holidays celebrated by individuals and exploited by corporations.
@artistrobfuller technically this is a nation founded on Christianity. Just another religious crusade.
Does anyone know why 3/23 was chosen? And who made the decision? Based on the video someone posted in this thread, it looks like the Atheist Republic and/or an atheist group in Austin is leading the way.
I’ll take a stab.
Other than the obvious fact that 3 and 23 are prime (making the fraction irreducible) the math works out to be:
3/23=
0.1304347826086956521739
The decimal part repeats and is 22 digits in length. The factors of 22 are 2 and 11. If we are to agree that 911=emergency, 411=information and 311=a rock band from the 90s, then it’s safe to say that 211=atheism.
That’s most likely why they chose 3/23.
@indirect76 so math is based on logic. Not sure if atheism is founded on logic (as there is no evidence one way or another, even evolution is still a theory).
Not sure I see reasoning in this mathemati conclusion you provided.
@Seajay88 Some things will never be known, like the square root of a million, but my maths is irrefutable.
@Seajay88 I would say it has more logic than religion. Not that there's a lot of logic in it.
@indirect76 the square root of a million is known...as for your math, it’s based on rounded intergers and presumptions. So it’s more of a theory, that’s attempts at using math as justification, like Christian Numerologists.
@ronnie40355 ...your statement is quite agreeable ? religion and logic don’t even stand in the same dimension.
@Seajay88 Gödel showed that the square root of a million is unknowable. Yes, the paper was made during his last few paranoid years, but it holds true none the less.
All integers are rounded, so I’m not sure what you mean there. If I had to guess, I’d say it has something to do with the dislike of the band 311. Perhaps one of theirs songs played on the radio while a traumatic event occurred?
@indirect76 I can’t speak for your trauma, but what does your dislike for the band 311 have to do with your atheist numerology? Also what is 1,000x1,000? If I had to guess, the only square with no root is an indirect 76?
@Seajay88 I don’t know what 1,000x1,000 is, but it isn’t a number. It has an x in it, which is a letter.
Me too! Can’t wait! I’m going to... uh... do the same thing I do every day.
Around my house, every day is atheist day. We celebrate life before death. Usually with wine.
@artistrobfuller We are legion.
I do the same.
I would like to create an International Agnostics Day but:
I'm not sure it's a good idea
I'm between two minds about it
Me too. I used to be schizophrenic but now I am in two minds
I suppose this be a thing for some.
But I've never been a believer my whole life.
Every day on that un-belief is fairly the same.
