BBC World News gives a much better analysis than any U.S. site of the democratic candidates running so far, who may run and who are not running.
My money is on Beto. Being from Texas is a big big advantage for him. Such an affable guy. He will deliver Texas and will beat the electroral college game. Julian Castro or Kamala Harris for VP would be a power ticket in 2020.
What do you think? Will Beto get the nomination?
He couldnt win Texas but you think he can win the country? Not happening
I think he can if he starts catching fire like Obama did in 2008
@Tiramisu what race did Obama lose to set him up for the Presidency?
@lerlo Don't forget A. Lincoln. Losing elections is a norm in politics but a candidate who learns from a loss, rises and gets better always does better next time. he has a good recipe to stand out from the crowd, the social media savvy and zeal to win over all young and educated and with the money raised from millions (not from lobbyists) will galvanize the nation.
@Tiramisu losing elections is a bad sign for a candidate and gives a good idea about that candidate. If you have to go back a hundred and fifty years for your example that should give you some pause. If you believe all you say, the Lions will also win the Super Bowl someday.
@lerlo Wining and losing elections is an outcome of many things, not just of being a good or bad candidate. PAC money, own fund raising through lobbyists are big factors. If PAC and corporate money is banned and candidates are allowed to campaign and debate on limited money by law, I would accept your agreement. We have corrupted our election process. It has become a race of money and influence, not candidates.
Beto doesn't have much of a platform....sure he is young, handsome, etc...but is that what we want in a President? Bernie has a platform..a detailed plan to fix America. He may be old and balding...but he knows how to do it.
But can he win against Trump? I love Bernie, but I can't underestimate the fear of, gasp! socialism! I think enough people might be dumb enough to vote for Trump against Bernie and that terrifies me.
