This quote states my belief well. How about you?
“I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world.” Richard Dawkins
Yes, it's very well stated. I think he means it teaches us not try to understand more about what we know nothing. To back away from life by not learning more--to continue to accept knowing less seems shallow, like one can't be bothered to experience outside of what one already knows.
I think religion teaches people not ask questions, nor reason on our own, because God will always do that for them. I feel religion teaches people not have original thoughts and authentic feelings. Religion creates stereotypes, and tends make the religious suspicious of those who aren't religious. I feel that religion is divisive, and that it refuses consider the bigger picture, whereby all religions/credos/philosophies share some beliefs and values in common. I have always felt religion tries change non-religious people become carbon copies of the religious.
Im against religions and gods for thousands of reasons, naming one wouldn't do it justice
I'm not against religion, but I'll drink to that sentiment.
And it's St. Patrick's Day. Har!
Nope. I am not against religion so...
I respectfully wonder what you see in religion, Indirect? I was brought up in a religious family and went to a Baptist grade school. You've probably heard why many on this site have a negative feeling to religion but I'm genuinely curious about other views. Cheers.
@rogueflyer I was brought up in a non-religious environment. So I don’t have those negative feelings.
