Lets hope Darwin was right and that evolution will reduce the stupid from propagating (but these days it just seems like the opposite is happening).

Stupidity is most definitely an inheritable trait.. Scary, isn't it?!?

it seems like some of the very wealthy have many children, the middle-class fewer & fewer & then the very poor more.
somehow i don't think this is going to work out well.

It has also been shown that within the first generation immigrants have more children. This country would have almost a static population if it were not for the high immigration rate.

When I was in ZPG we would talk to middle class women about limiting their progeny and most agreed. But many of those same people also said that they wanted to but that they saw the minorities having more children and were concerned about them taking over the majority in the country. Population from all levels will destroy this species.

I believe you are correct - the opposite is happening. The thinking reasoning folks are opting out of the reproductive cycle. If they were adopting it might help but I don't think they are doing that either.
We are breeding down and even backwards.

I totally agree as we have taken ourselves out of the natural selection scheme. Here's a fun (maybe) liink [darwinawards.com]

Evolution doesn't select for intelligence unless it's warranted. Dogs, whose ancestors are wolves, are much less intelligent than wolf's are with the notable exception of "reading" humans.

But dogs are still around in big numbers whereas wolves are endangered. It'sa not about intelligence but adaptability. [darwinawards.com]

Intelligence only increases the chances of survival. it doesn't grantee it. A highly intelligent creature, who isn't suited to survive to its environment is still not as likely to survive as a dumb creature that is well suited to its environment.

That depends on ones definition of intelligence. Many people are brilliant when it comes to a specialized field. More and more we are becoming specialists but losing a view of the bigger picture. There is a difference between intelligent and wisdom. Also, one can be mentally intelligent but emotionally dumb.
