@1of5 - Yes, but they aren't beef COWS, they are beef CATTLE, so if some are cows, how many are steers? Oh, yes, whatever.... I don't think some segments of the populous care about actual facts, but, yes, they might well make a big smelly fuss about all the cattle farts!

@Rustee i myself have no earthly idea how many, but they are silent on the present number of buffalo as well. also curious to know whether "roughly 60 million" is accurate. undoubtedly a forensic accounting of the buffalo?...

so i went and looked. not scientific, but i saw a figure in my limited look having read this post and it that said there were once 20 to 30 million buffalo roaming north america and 500,000 living today.

had not the buffalo population not been decimated in the 1800s; and were there in fact 60 million additional beasts shitting up the place; and if 60 million additional beast farts were contributing to global warming, who is to say we would be silent about the 60 million additional beasts farting and what to do about them? also why does anyone have to prove that cow farts are worse than 2 times the hypothetical buffalo farts? that makes no sense. seems to me it would be a contributory problem, not this OR that.

@1of5 - not quite! I was trying to point out that there might well be 31.7 million beef CATTLE, not beef COWS. If there was 31.7 million beef cows, how many million beef STEERS are there. The numbers are impressive enough, but the identifying factor is wrong! But, yes, it is indeed idiotic!!
