When I was a kid I had an imaginary friend and I used to think that he went everywhere with me, and that I could talk to him and that he could hear me, and that he could grant me wishes and stuff. And then I grew up, and I stopped going to church.

There is something very childlike about faith and the expectation that belief is based on suppressing our natural cognitive maturity and relies on not asking too many questions. And Bible passages like "Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall not enter therein." (So all those adults who get baptized are kinda out of luck, right?? Nope, too old...move along...Ha)

There's actually a philosophy behind that phenomenon. It usually occurs in Childhood. Referred to as Binker. Imaginary friends that possibly gave rise to the belief in good.
