When Facebook friends post ”Please keep the family of the deceased in your thoughts,” I ordinarily click “Like”; however, when the post reads “Please keep the family of the deceased in your prayers,” I fear that clicking “Like” might be hypocritical. Recommendations?
Personally, I see these as “it’s not about me” moments. If a “Like” would be seen as comforting by someone I care about, I gladly give it without quibbling about the metaphor. (Besides, anyone who knows me either knows that I don’t pray, or suspects that I pray to gods that would scare the sh*t out of them.)
Do you have to respond? The response is inconsequential to the person/family in need. Unless the poster is delivering a scorecard to the bereaved? Or are the bereaved? Post your own parallel or direct to them - my thoughts are with them/you... ?
I suppose you don't have , but that person that posted it is obviously looking for some kind of comfort and why deny them at that point? At the end of the day it doesn't really matter either way way you do but making them feel better is worth it me.
