Since we are in favor of equality should we not have an equal number of women in our government as we have men? Wouldn't this make a difference in some of our laws like permitting contraception availability like we do for viagra? For to long we have let the demeaning of women as called for in the bible be the rule in our society.Should not repair this problem and with it call for term limits & age limits?
An interesting question. To me it's not a matter of an equal number of men and women in government, so much as equal opportunity to participate in government for men and women.
I don't think there will ever be an equal number of women to the number of men in government due to rampant sexism in the government as well as in the country even if the woman was the best person for the job due to experience and skill. I do believe the country and perhaps the world would be in better shape if women were in charge.
I would rather see the best person for the job. There is a lot of corruption in governments and women can play the game as well as men, although it shouldn't be a game as it affects the lives of their constituents. As for other career opportunities that require strength and stamina standards should be the same for both and not a quota requirement.
Women think differently than men. Perhaps it does not need to be equal but there should be more women. I am in organizations than have equal numbers of men and women and it is unbelievable the way the women think verses the men. They recognize different things in the same arena than men do. I believe our laws would be greatly different if there were more women in our government.
Looking at the number of women who replaced white men in Virginia the other night maybe all it would take is for more women to get out and run for office. I’m not for replacing men with women only because their women but if they can do the job, then they have my vote.
Men are bigger, stronger, and and faster than women. That's why you see so few women in the NFL. The fact that you see more men than women in politics probably reflects positively on women and negatively on men.
I guess you have not had a chance to view our strong men in the Congress. Some of them could not walk out of a wet paper bag. In addition one need not be physically strong to be mentally superior
I don't believe people in Congress are mentally superior. If they were we wouldn't have $20,000,000,000,000 in national debt.
Unfortunately SteveB is right. There are too many females that don't support their own, unfortunately.
This is a situation I do not understand. I am confused as to why they would take this stand
