Bill would force doctors to lie to women about being able to reverse abortions. OK says, fuck you to the hippocratic oath.

Sometimes I really hate OK legislators.

Not abortions, you fathead, tubal ligation, and yes they Are reversible!

It's nothing to do with tubal litigation. It's to do with the "two pill" abortion treatment. The (unproven) theory is that, after taking the first pill, but before taking the second one a few days later, a woman might be able to take a massive dose of progesterone to negate the effect of the first pill. What effect this would have on the foetus is not known, but since it was already being denied succour it could well result in a "less than normal" child.

@Petter ummm, the "day-after" pill is ONE dose which can be taken up to several weeks after unprotected. Cannot find anything about 2 pills as you state.

@AnneWimsey read the article in the link above - to theintercept.com
Also, note, the "morning after" pill is only effective up to a MAXIMUM of 5 days, and by then it is only 89% effective.

@Petter but why would the woman be given any explanation by a doctor? The whole point of the pill is you can go get it yourself from a pharmacy, no doctor involved.
And I still find no explanation of why 2 pills are needed, nothing from Planned Parenthood mentions this (and they should know) there is only the one pill that causes expulsion of the uterine lining, period.

@AnneWimsey Please read the linked article. It's about Oklahoma legislators and the two pill, medically induced abortion technique. It is NOT contraception, the woman has conceived. But OK legislators insist that doctors tell the woman she can change her mind, half way through the treatment, but not that this is hypothetical!

@Petter "the woman has conceived" ?????!!!!!
No Way does she or anyone else know at that time if she has conceived or not, the pill is a Preventative. Period.
And again, no doctor needs to be involved on Any level, at any time!

@AnneWimsey This isn't something for a week after sex. It is for after the woman has missed her period, taken a pregnancy test, and now wishes to abort the foetus. In other words for weeks 5 to 15.

@Petter WTH are you talking about?!!

@AnneWimsey Read the linked article.

@Petter I did, and went on Web Md and Google....still no idea.
NO 2-pill procedures, or even one, for after 5 weeks upwards,...you need a D&C then.

@AnneWimsey Here's what the Mayo clinic says:-

[mayoclinic.org]

@Petter did You read it? "Up to 7 weeks", not 15 as you stated.......huge difference. Most women do not know they are pregnant until at least 6 weeks........

@AnneWimsey End of the very first paragraph "It's safer and most effective during the first trimester of pregnancy." Later on it recommends you should not start medical abortion after the first NINE weeks. Apart from all this, your original argument was that the post concerned tubal litigation. Remember?
"Not abortions, you fathead, tubal ligation, and yes they Are reversible!"

@Petter jeebus, that's it? Going all the way back to my OP because you have clearly shot your wad?

@AnneWimsey Also, from the National Health Service of UK.
"A medical abortion involves taking medication to end the pregnancy. It doesn't require surgery or an anaesthetic, and can be used at any stage of pregnancy"

@AnneWimsey Still answering your original post with actual, factual information.
