I'm sure I've mentioned that I was raised Roman Cathollic more than once - I don't think there is any way to comprehend how much religion was part of my home town until you see this though - the Notre Dame Church of my youth.
I spent many an hour staring at the ceiling. The organ is a pipe organ. The bells from the tower can be heard from miles away. The put in electronics to play them when I was a teen though.

All the artwork gone..breaks my heart..
This one is still around. (Massachusetts).
I used to spend about an hour staring at the ceiling - you only got away with that when you were pre-school though. lol
And yes it was the Paris Notre Dame that brought it back. There are many gorgeous structures. I'm sad that we lost that one too.
I remember on one of my trips to Paris, this one being with my young family some 35 years ago, we were wandering around admiring the exterior of Notre Dame and enjoying watching some students playing music, when a tour bus pulled up. 40 Welsh men piled out, formed up outside the cathedral, and burst into beautiful song for 30 minutes.
It transpired they were a Welsh choir, on tour, and had decided they wanted to sing at Notre Dame. I would willingly have paid for that free concert!
