Maybe we should start a new group and call it agnostics, a group where no religion is mentioned.
Just a thought,
I usually tell People I'm Irreligious. I guess that encompasses most all the variations of it which include Secular Humanism, Free thought, Spiritual but not Religious, Theological noncognitivism, Antireligion, Atheism, Agnosticism, Agnostic atheism, and Apatheism. [en.wikipedia.org]
It is also a pretty good album from a band called Moonspell.
Religion is often not mentioned. I post very few religious items.
I find it ironic that a bunch of atheists seem to be obsessed with religion. I am apathetic about religion, but I am a lifelong atheist, never ever having had a religion, however I find the newly converted tend to still be obsessed by it, and the amount of energy they expend denouncing it is astonishing. Just forget about it is my advice, it doesn’t merit all the vitriol and hatred, as that only gives it more importance than it deserves.
@VictoriaNotes I take on board what you say, and I can understand the need to talk about it...that is healthy. However, the amount of vitriol and hatred I hear expressed sometimes here on this site, directed towards those who still believe, I believe to be damaging to their own mental state, I understand that they are suffering something akin to bereavement, and that some of them have been estranged by their families and have an understandable hatred towards the deceit and lies of the clergy and institutions they formerly were part of. I do understand that they probably need the help of professional therapists, and perhaps I cannot put myself into their shoes, never having been in their position, so I will try not to been so dismissive of their need to talk about how they feel regarding religion,
