Creaures with front-facing eyes are usually predatory. While those with eyes on the side of their heads are usually prey for the predators. When we finally meet ET, and its eyes are on the side of its head, then we can assume it is relatively harmless in intent. If however, its eyes are on the front of its head, we may be in deep doo-doo!
