At the award dinner at American Atheist 2019 Convention. Currently hearing from a constitutional lawyer presenting some very sobering facts about our current Supreme Court and the threats to women, LGBTQ, atheists and other minorities.
The day has been filled with amazing speakers, great conversation and a new motivation to get involved in atheist activism.
Here are some highlights...
Opening talk was from Dr. Hector Garcia author of many books including Alpha God, which I’m now reading and highly recommend. His talk focused on how the evolutionary development of males coincides with violence and religion. Personally it reminded me of why I want extreme fundamental religious beliefs to be destroyed, because they subjugate woman, children and minorities.
The rally was held just down the road and many had great conversations with theists including being invited to the ark park.
The afternoon focused on various social issues, the keynote was Jim Obegerfell, author of Love Wins and the reason marriage equality was granted by the Supreme Court.
We also heard about Project Blitz a focused effort by the Christian Right to bring about a theocracy. This was very sobering and reminded me of the days and times I spent as a fundamental Christian working towards a return to America being a Christian nation.
I was able to visit with many podcasters, bloggers, vloggers and secular organizations.

There are a lot of wonderful passionate people working for equality and the threat to equality in our current political climate is real.
