At what age should you stop buying guitars, thinking you will join the Stones on tour?
Why do you ask? As a flute player, I was encouraged to become a professional flutist.
At 17, I realized I would never be satisfied, thinking I was always on a plateau, trying to improve:
Breath control
Dynamics
Fingering
Sight reading
Intonation
Expression
Tonguing and articulation
Vibrato
Hand positions, etc.
If you're buying more than one guitar, maybe it's not the guitar.... Maybe you can't play very well
Well of course that is it
Guitars have different sounds. Listen to Frank Mariano as he plays a Gibson and then Hendrix as he plays a Fender. Same song, same notes, and differing sounds. Or just find a band that switches out guitars. I've seen a number of bands who keep a guy busy switching and tuning throughout a concert.
And I thought I was done, went to an auction and got a sweat old pre 61 Stella for 30 dollars; I couldn't resist at such a cheap cost - I can give it away for that and it will still hold a tune.
When your kids start asking why you spend so much time playing guitar in the garage instead of throwing baseballs with them.
Happily single
@michaelj If you're both single and childless, then of course you can still afford to keep buying guitars, LOL!
