Carl Benjamin: the case for free speech. FREE SPEECH is the foundation of western civilization. No where else on the planet protects this human right. This is something more US occupants need to understand::: What other country would you rather be living in right now?

USA the country that banned Harry Potter.

We are more than 300 million. Gotta have some imbeciles lying around for fun.

@Jacar Yes, one or two not so far from where you are sitting. LOL

@chazwin Oh so clever. Did you listen to Carl's comments? Your comment suggests, prolly not.

I am not Murican, but am North American, and I'd rather have been born in a nordic nation which are the best nations for women to live in. 🙂

Sweden has become the rape capitol of norther europe. Norway now has growing no-go zones for non-muslims. Otherwise I agree. Except for the cold.

Sweden has THE BEST system for reporting rapes statistically counting rapes in the world. Instead of counting rapes from the same rapist ONCE, they count EACH RAPE from the same rapist as separate incidences. Not to mention, people that never before reported are able to report now and those stats are counted. Plus, they have a much more comprehensive and thorough definition of rape than both US and Canada have, so more victims get counted.

@Jacar Here is an article explaining their census bureau, or bra, if interested in learning:

[bra.se]

""Three important factors to remember

  1. Swedish statistics record all reported events as crimes even if some of them are later found not to have constituted criminal offences.

  2. Several offences of the same kind against a single victim will be
counted in some countries as a single crime. By contrast, in Swedish crime statistics every offence occurring under these circumstances is counted separately.

  3. In Swedish statistics, attempted offences are in most cases counted together with completed crimes."

@Jacar This is completely inaccurate, there are no “no go “ areas in Norway, and the Swedish rape statistics seem inflated because they include non penetrative sexual assaults which would not be counted as rape in most other countries’.Sweden is ranked as the number one country in sexual equality, and women are more inclined to report any type of sexual assault, whereas in many other countries women are reluctant to report for fear of not being taken seriously....not the case in Sweden. Personally, I know that I would feel safe to walk around in Oslo or Stockholm...there are not gangs of Muslims roaming the streets to rape and molest European women. You really must stop spreading this alarmist propaganda. Why do you not take a trip to Scandinavia to see them for yourself.

@Marionville - -Reports from oslo say you are wrong.

@Marionville check out the link I posted if interested on how they collect stats about rape in sweden. That is their census bureau the bra.

@demifeministgal Yes...it’s more or less in accord with what I have read elsewhere.

, @Jacar Which reports and who were they written by?

@demifeministgal More rapes since the immigrant invasion. Obviously that is not a clue.

@Jacar Not according to the census data. But feel free to believe what you want. It won't change the facts.

And remember the consequences of that speech..

That is such a woke phrase. We have way too many people who are censored for speaking truth. The consequences of that should be our support, no matter how we feel about the words.

The US did not invent free speech and it is far from the only place that protects it. Further, it is not even the best example of it.

Worse still it is the USA that is most responsible for crushing democracy the world over ,worse than any other country.

The US is the only nation that had the right to free speech enshrined in the nations' initial constitution, and founding documents.

@Jacar enshrined is one thing, enforced and protected is another. two different things

@Jacar Even if true, it says absolutely nothing as most countries never had an initial constitution. But most of those that did pretty much also have free speech.

@chazwin The UK still has no provision in law as we do.

@t1nick Exactly. So why are you so opposed?

The US would be low on my list of free countries that also allow free speech.

I'll stick with Canada for now.

More here than there, actually.

@Jacar

What is more "here than there"? I don't follow.

@Athena we don't yet have an official human rights tribunal. We don't have, yet, enforced speech laws. But our governments are both filled with the corrupt, and insane.

@Athena And our supremes have ruled hate speech does not exist.

3

Free Speech is part of EU law. That's another 28 countries.

Based upon what happened here 250 years ago.

@Jacar I wasn't around 250 years ago and I am guessing, neither were you.

@Amisja Oh so flippant. As if your comments have anything to do with any reality other than yours.

The US constitution was the FIRST. That is important given how many people on the planet are completely suppressed. You are privileged and yet you denigrate this right.
Time to buy a vowel.

@Jacar The US contitution was the first what? Why would I need to buy a vowel?

We aren't the only ones but it is a foundation for liberty

There are dozens of countries the world over ,having suffered from US aggression and antidemocratic policies against those countries that would disagree with you. You are fed a complimentary lie and many Americans like to swallow.

@chazwin You conflate too many topics.

@Jacar Too much for you to understand? LOL

@chazwin The point was about the importance of free speech. Everything depends upon it. Everything.

2

Free speech is recognized and protected in other countries other than the USA..

Recognized. But not in the founding documents. And increasingly the EU is being over run with "hate" shit. Recent EU court ruled making fun of the religion of peace' prophet is not allowed.
That kind of shit is being pushed here. We are in danger of losing this right.
