@bbyrd009 probably like Christians who cherry pick passages in the bible they ignore parts they don't like. They want to emulate the prophet who was the perfect man and he instigated the conquest of much of Europe and North Africa so he was hardly forgoing violence.

As to Jesus, believe it or not "John Doe from Nowhere" is right there in plain code i think. Jesus = Joshua, the most common male name then, and Nazareth was curiously uninhabited in the first century, although it was peopled in the centuries before and after? At least according to...ppl more reputable than me lol. A rabbi was known by their "school" i guess, hence "Paul of Tarsus" etc, Tarsus being a rather famous Rabbinical School. So anyway, "Jesus of Nazareth" equates to "John Doe from out of Nowhere" in the then current lexicon, at least according to some. I would have put it "John Doe from Nowhere" but the quotes are searchable for more.

@bbyrd009 Yes there is some debate as to whether Nazareth was populated during the time that Jesus was supposed to have lived. Joshua was the mythical leader of the Jews after the mythical Moses died at some amazingly old age so the name was commonly used and as the Jews were desperate for another saviour ( many orthodox Jews are still waiting on him) that is probably why this "saviour" was given that name.

I belive the early Mohammad did preach peace and tolerance but when he was chased out of Mecca and settled in medina things seemed to change.

I read of story of his life some time ago and it portrayed a sort of tribal warlord who's followers were anything but peaceful and behaved just like other tribes in the area.

The crusades were long after his time.

@genessa I think the police and security forces see it as an impediment to them keeping tabs on potential terrorists.
They are already accused of victimisation of Muslims with stop and search powers and if the meaning of Islamophobia is broadened it would make their job more difficult for example asking Muslim woman to remove face veils would be considered an attack on "Muslimness"

Personally I cannot see how Islamaphobia can be called racism as any race can be a Muslim.

@Moravian since there is no such thing as race except as a social construct anyway, your objection to islamaphobia's being called racism is just a bit literalistic. and i do not know on what basis you see the police and security forces being impeded by what you perceive (but have not explained) as a broadening of the meaning of islamaphobia. the definition seemed simple and succinct to me. which part of it is inaccurate? i asked that before and have had no answer yet.

I totally agree with you but the laws are constantly being altered and it is an offence now to even criticise the fascist Govt of Israel and judging by the article we will be pussyfooting around making negative comments about Islam.

i do not hate anyone, I have some good friends who are of Jewish Heritage, most are not actually practicing the religious aspect of Judaism but they identify as Jewish, I love them dearly
the Israeli Government is an entirely Evil organization that routinely murders the innocent and is worthy of any derision sent its way, I will not stop criticizing the Israeli government, until that government ceases its haynis acts of cruelty and barbarism toward Palestine and other surrounding countries, and you will never convince me that this is a hate crime.

@Moravian The government of Israel is not fascist. They are right-wing looney tunes, but the people of Israel keep voting them in because they have abandoned, after years of trying, the "peace process" and have decided to confront their fascist enemies head on. Maybe they'll give ",peace" another go some day, but it will be a while. This has less to do with religion for them and more to do with survival.
