Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat are seeing so much interest in their meatless hamburgers that they're running out of product.

Veganism and vegetarianism used to appeal mostly to animal rights activists, but concerns over climate change and health are driving conventional people to rethink how much meat they consume

Demand for Impossible's food has more than doubled, plus Burger King announced a version of the Impossible patty, and White Castle, Carl's Jr., Bareburger, Qdoba and others also feature Beyond Meat or Impossible Foods items on their menus.

Beyond Meat is now sold at Safeway and Kroger, and Impossible plans to start selling in retail locations this year.

Even Ikea, known for its Swedish meatballs, said it will start testing a new plant-based version of its classic meatball, designed to taste just like meat, next year.

in 2015, the World Health Organization linked red meat to cancer and there has been such increased interest in meatless "meat" products that Beyond had to redevelop its supply chain and production processes to keep up.

I was laughed at for years being a health conscious person. I still think substitutes for carrion is misguided. One must alter cultural customs by seeking nourishment from other cultures. This corporate food issue is due to the fact that 1st world culture leaves no time for insightful choices. Burger King has the veggie burger which it seems I am the only one who orders it. Wendy's took their pita sandwiches off the menu 2 decades ago. I only order the baked potato there as the triple cadaver burgers do not appeal to me. Then there is the styrofoam..........

If you want to continue eating meat of some sort, small-scale chicken and pig keeping seem to be the least harmful, but we don't all have a big enough garden for that.

Now if we could just get Monsanto, etc. with all their nasty chemicals and round-up ready GMO crap out of our food i'd be a real happy camper!!

"Diet For A Small Planet" by Frances Moore Lappe (1971) said basically the same things about meat production.

"In 1975, Frances Moore Lappé and Joseph Collins launched the California-based Institute for Food and Development Policy (Food First) to educate Americans about the causes of world hunger. In 2006, Frances' daughter, Anna Lappé, took Small Planet a step further with her book, Diet for a Hot Planet: The Climate Crisis at the End of Your Fork and What You Can Do About It (ISBN 978-1596916593). She revealed the disturbing connection between food production and climate change and outlined how we can eat food that’s better for people and the planet.[7]"
