This isn't a lie. It's just unbelievably stupid. It's gotta be the dumbest prediction that anyone ever made. Tell this to the Jews marching into the ovens or the Indians at Wounded Knee. How could Jesus say this with a straight face and not burst out laughing?
You ready. Write this down.
THE MEEK SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH.
Its interesting you would use physical poison as evidence that the soul is hurt. But carry on.
Where does anywhere in these words, it shows that he meant it spiritually? Or is it your spin to justify it?
@Tiramisu it's taken from Mark in which Jesus has returned as ghost Jesus and tells them if they believe and are baptized they get to go to heaven. If they only believe it won't save them.
That's why its important to keep context of things otherwise someone might think Jesus said to drink poison.
@Biosteelman Words are words, you cannot twist them. The church has re-interpreted horrific things in the Bible to mean what they have wanted to mean but we all know how horrific they are.
@Tiramisu Dude. There's no twist. It's ok if you are Atheist. It's ok if I'm Agnostic. It's not ok for you to twist words in an attempt to belittle a group and their beliefs. You've used a phrase out of context that clearly doesn't mean what you present it to only to turn around and say see it's all hogwash. Things like this undermine honesty and critical thinking, which only makes Atheists and Agnostics by default seem less than honest.
If you want to say there is very little historical proof of Jesus I'd say that's true outside of the accounts of his apostles there are only 2 other accounts. Which would indicate Jesus wasn't as far traveled or widespread as most Christians believe. But to intentionally twist meaning of words is lying.
@Tiramisu Yes make fun of people because you don't agree with their beliefs. That makes you a kind and smart person. At least Religion has the ability to kick out followers who are terrible examples too bad Atheist don't have that ability. They could root out people like you.
@Biosteelman Atheists do not have laughable beliefs. Religious do. The joke is on them.
@Tiramisu Really. I think its laughable that the universe is so extremely orderly but you dismiss a creator. Despite a Big Bang being a smoking gun. I think its laughable that you rule out possibility without certainty.
You're the guy I could cheat at a gambling game and you'd never catch on unless someone showed you. Simply because you lack imagination and/or abstraction.
The whole idea of Prince of Peace is a lie. His message was if you're morally offended by something it's appropriate to commit violence and throw a temper tantrum like a spoiled six year old. When he entered the temple and saw the money lenders and dealers, Jesus started yelling and overturning tables. He started yelling "This is a house of prayer". They should have answered: All right, so what are you screaming about?
Another way that Christians set themselves up for failure.
Some of the Appalachian snake preachers drink watered down poison. Of course all the snakes have been milked as well.
Imam Tawhidi, an Iranian born, Australian national read something very similar from the quran and reveals how the lies are misleading. Look Up Imam Tawhidi.
Not going to look up anything if someone isn't willing to cite a source to prove their point.
