God of Abraham, Jews, Christians and the like = a weak, impotent, self-righteous, arrogant, self-centred, egotistical, Homophobic, Socio-pathic, Psychopathic, Genocidal, Misogynistic, Imaginary, Invisible, Incarnation of ALL the very worst of Traits in human-kind.
I've heard a theologically deep answer to this (read mental gymnastics) that because god allows the evil and is not willing to end it is the reason why he had to suffer for it (cross, etc.).
It's a nice answer but ultimately proves nothing.
I'm personally a believer in Marduk: when his bones are finally discovered in the deserts of Mesopotamia He will rise up to smite his enemies!
Interesting....
Marduk, in Mesopotamian religion, the chief god of the city of Babylon and the national god of Babylonia; as such, he was eventually called simply Bel, or Lord. ... After conquering the monster of primeval chaos, Tiamat, he became Lord of the Gods of Heaven and Earth.
Originally, he seems to have been a god of thunderstorms., lol
That's one of the weakest explanations I think I have ever heard. In fact, it makes no logical sense at all. Someone actually considered this a valid counter to the logic of Epicurus? Wow.
Heard that one and innumerable others spewed forth by Lecturers, etc, during my years of study to attain my ThD.
Which, btw, I did as DECLARED Atheist much to chagrin of the Faculty, etc.
