Last time I dated a vegan I lasted about 10 days. Before I sat upright in bed at 3 am, got dressed went to 24 hour grocery and bought a steak and grilled it in the backyard. Anybody else?
Humans are omnivores -- our teeth define us. We have canines in the front for tearing flesh (carnivores) and we have molars in the back for grinding (herbivores). On this planet, all life feeds on death. Being a vegan is a choice -- most I've spoken with are concerned about taking a life with a face. If you're going to be a vegan, you must ingest plants with a high protein content -- legumes and beans. That should help with the craving for meat. Search the internet for more.
I’m mostly meat and dairy free by necessity of my health...but when I can tolerate it, I love me some barbecue and frozen yogurt. My diet is so restricted that when I CAN eat things I love, you can bet that I will!
I get the philosophy of lowered cruelty, etc, but I also feel it’s a personal choice. Each of us must choose and not force our choice on others. IMHO.
ha ha...this made me laugh...grilling at 3 am...ha ha ha good for you...
The vegan insisted you be one too? Reason enough to dump them!
I was vegetarian while at university - purely a budget thing ... was tempted by a bacon buttie and now eat more or less anything when necessary
ooh man I wouldn't last. Especially during PMS when I am in constantly starving mode no amount of grains and veggies would suffice! Give me my meat or give me death!
My vegan hiking partner, Karen, loves lecturing me on the superiority of her diet, the meat industry, treatment of cows, etc. It's gross and upsetting.
"Stop it, Karen!" Susan and I said. "I want to enjoy the hike."
I never badger Karen about her diet. She tends to be overweight and eats a lot of processed vegan cookies. My lips are sealed.
Since nowadays many of those who are lefty and non-believers are at least vegetarian if not vegan, with my luck the only hipster single women in my age group that I meet online or offline will be vegan and will also reject me if I refuse to join them in that, which is something I am not willing to do. I am becoming a minority within a minority and it sucks to know that. My only saving grace might be my age, in that most of the vegan women are more commonly in the younger age groups than mine. My observation is that the Unitarians in my area, esp. in Des Moines, are so zealous about being PC that even the women my age at that church are probably all at least vegetarian, so they can fit in and feel comfortable there.
their bodies feel cold and they look all grey and sickly. thumbs down!
Yeah that’s one of those things, I guess because I am very liberal, I seem to often get dating site matches to vegans. And I always think, “damn that’s a lot of hassle to deal with.”
My body just wouldn't put up with no meat.
In case anyone is interested. These 2 books are very enlightening, and helps with the mindset of vegans> it is my profession. I liken their thinking as similar to believers. THE VEGETARIAN MYTH BY LIERRE KEITH AND VEGAN BETRAYAL BY MARA KAHN.
Did she try to force you to eat only veggies?
No, I just thought I would give it a try
You were trying to get work on the relationship. Completely honorable and understandable.
And now the punchline:
Did you try to shove meat down her throat?
It won't last 10 days with me. Maybe 10 minutes!
BBQ!
