I think you're applying your judgement based on the understanding of what humanity had experienced so far and not by the potential that is based on existing evidence .. you can't cast such a judgement and generalize it from this point of view..

Since humans rights awarenes last century and technology advancement this century, we have grown exponentially .. we are at a very critical point in our development that will soon hit the threshold that could determine whether we're doomed to extinction or wake the fuck up and find a real solution to save our species from extinction.
The afte so many science literature and humans experimentation of breaking out the controlling institutions that holding our advancement up..
I recommend learn about the venus project and the zeitgeist movement.

@Neenz I think it'd be useful if we had terminology for how much people believed/ wanted to participate in religion.... The gathering of like minded individuals to share rituals related to a common world view/ belief system. It seems like most religions now are theistic (example xtianity, hinduism), but not all (example some sects of Buddhism). To me, this Venus idea seems very religious, and to me thats a turn off. I realize there are people on this site who are atheists but religious, perhaps like yourself?

Money is the ability to create art, music, literature, discover the wonders of the universe, cure diseases, educate others, and so much more. The reason money allows us to do all those things is because no one person has to do everything just to survive.

Humans were on the barter system for a long, long, long time and life was generally miserable.
