China is an existential threat to the free world.
China has never been our friend, though naive American politicians have sought to develop economic relationships with them for profit for about 30 years, giving them preferential trade status, American companies have stumbled over themselves to ship their production for veritable slave labor, undercutting the manufacturing labor force in the U.S. making it virtually extinct.
Now China is reaching a point of being competitive with the U.S. and the West in military power, in artificial intelligence (which is quite dangerous) and assorted other technologies. China certainly sees the U.S. as a threat, we admittedly have a pretty haphazard political system and social culture, things that many of us see as part of being free and being human, but from the Chinese state perspective is intolerable, a threat to stability and their influence, which they only want to see grow to be universal.
The thing that makes me stop and think that we cannot allow them to continue growing like this is the state sponsored harvesting of organs from political dissidents. The Chinese, or at least a significant portion, significant to be found throughout the government and the military, do not share the same moral core, the same respect for life, that we do in the West. The fact that the Chinese kill political prisoners to harvest their organs for profit is not a controversial assertion, it is accepted as fact, the perspective of how heinous this practice is carried out is a little less documented, but it is becoming more clear.

Do your own googling to find multiple sources. This is no secret, our representatives know about it, it's terrifying that more hasn't been done about it.
we cannot allow them to continue growing like this umm.. There's like 328 million people in the US. 3.28 10^8. There's like 1.4 billion people in China. 1.4 10*9. Thats 3 times as many Chinese. I'm not seeing where we get to have a say in this. We're just really lucky that theyre on the other side of the world and have their own agenda. As far as the free world goes... don't think for a minute that your ability to choose your own cable/streaming tv station from a menu of 1000s, makes you free, though I'm sure your life is fucking awesome compared to most of the rest of the world. 7.5 billion people, and 80% live on less than $10 a day... and of those, almost half live on less than $2.50. Probably about 30 million live in slavery. 60,000 of those in the US, and just under 3 million in China. Yay us?
And also... guess who uses all those organs? The US population has over 25% of the world's wealth, and does about 25% of the organ transplants too. And we don't have close to the highest donations in the world. It kinda sounds morally iffy to me.

But...but...but...we're sooooo much better than "them". Dont you understand?
China's been abused by the West for a few centuries now. I'd like to see this ...respect for life, that we do in the West concept you have.
Don't get me wrong, China does some seriously fucked up shit. But to sit back and do the old worn out "us vrs them and were just so much better" bullshit isn't going to solve anything. The fact of the matter is China's rapidly transitioning from a 3rd world country into a 1st and we have no choice but to deal with them.
Western politicians wouldn't have been so eager to cultivate business/trade deals with them if not for the pressure of corporations to do so.
The Chinese are an enigma.
Look around your home. Everything we own is "made in China".
They figured out to make everything from Rolex watches to Teslas to nails, screws, forks and spoons faster, better, and cheaper there.
Obviously they're suppressive, and harsh, if not downright cruel to their populace...
Yet 1/3 of them have solar hot water heaters on their roofs....and a growing percentage are getting power from alternative energy -years ahead of us. A few years ago they were opening a coal powered plant every week. Now they're closing down that many.
We have to figure out a way to make our labor force as devoted and brilliant as they are without the hostilities of an oppressive government.
If we don't - we'll slide more in to 3rd world nation status; ignorant and poor; while they continue to grow and dominate in the world.
@altschmerz Now THAT is a plan to MAGA! Excellent answer!
Yes I do believe china is a threat. So is trump. So is mcconnell and the supreme court who has sold our republic. I believe we are way past the empire tipping point and in massive decline.
