Why do you use agnostic.com?

I have learned a lot about myself using agnostic.com. What do I like? I find listening to other peoples daily hardships and frustrations grounding for me. It is easy for me to get absorbed with my daily challenges and think I have it so hard. When I see how others deal with life, I find it grounding. I find it provides perspective.

I also found out I will never hit level 8 or 9. I just don't always have something meaningful to say.

So thanks to those who help me keep grounded. I read most posts. It is good to share the world with "you all" as they say in the south.

You all know we aren't getting out of here alive , right?

LOL

I have been asking myself just that lately. Distance makes it difficult to date, and after almost a year and a half the subjects for discussions have covered so many subjects they are starting to recycle.

Some subjects change thier effect on lives-
as our views may change

It's just refreshing to meet more people like me.

Agnostic is a good site for heathens to meet prior to our inevitable damnation so at least we'll all go to Hell having met a few people ahead of time.

And when we get there we can all have a sing song like they do in the ‘other place’ except about our own self-indulgences instead of praising the lord!

I feel free to be who I really am without worrying about being persecuted for not believing in a God. Unfortunately on other social networks, this is not safe. I joined A.com in search of friends who share the same challenges.

@Ylma I hope you have found friends. I felt just like you do when I was in my 30s . I'm not sure when it changed. But unmoved to a bigger city. That helped. And I changed careers, that helped. And then I think I passed age 50 . That helped because I didnt care anymore what others thought.

@Bigwavedave very true/ the progression
of muturiy doesn't stop: and something's
just re-appear in different disguises.

Yes sometimes the stories are almost too hard to read, they certainly make my small troubles seem easy to endure. Grounded yes.

@femapple some people put an amazing amount of work and thought into their posts. I suspect they are not in a 9-5 job.

@Bigwavedave Some maybe sick or house bound or insomniacs, for such people it may be a great blessing that they have a site like this, where they can get social interaction at all hours. I am self employed without regular times, so often there is a odd half hour to relax at strange times of the day and therefore the fact that this site is always there is good for me too.

Because there's a disproportionately large amount of REAL here, that I haven't seen elsewhere.

I joined in for a chance to read and partake in some intelligent/relevant/funny discussions about various deities and tooth fairies etc. It's generally a non-issue in UK, less people are actively religious and on the whole they don't try to force it down our throats, and to be honest I was curious about how different that is another largely English speaking western country. Its been an eye opener!! I was also surprised to find such a great community and the variety of discussion points. From surving abuse to music to politics to hiking to science etc etc etc. Anything can be discussed here calm headedly without turning into disputes and flame wars most of the time, and it'd definitely be my first option for asking for emotional help or anything similar. I love the anonymity here, I'm quite a private/reserved/anxious person and it's liberating to just say it and forget about it sometimes. I tend to ignore my Facebook for months as I never have anything I want to say publicly on there. The dating I see as a feature that'd work just as well here without any site features to help it along. Not really what I'm here for, but yeah a lonely divorcee always has one eye on the field I guess. Oh, and I love all the trump memes 😁

Religion is very helpful to me. When I see goddesses pictures, statutes I masturbate and save money.

I come here for mental thereapy. I yell at religions and I feel better.

As with you I see the site (it's a safe harbor) as
a source of personal growth ;and a learning tool for my social awareness of issues that i might not be exposed to. News print is becoming obsolete; i can't afford the social scene.I will always like a good conversation
and I value the opinion of others-indeed they arrived at them through the processes we all use/though our experiences may differ, because of our life experiences.
.humbly thanx for the post.🎼

I'm from the South too, and I'm the only person I know of in Cleveland who uses the expression "you all" or "y'all" regularly 🙂

I'll respond to your question at the end in Curly Howard-style: "Soit-enly!"

Reading about some of the experiences or situations other many other members have had to endure has certainly given me better perspective. My problems sometimes seem almost insignificant compared to some of the terrible things others on here have had to cope with.

@mst3k yep, I suppose I don't relate to religious peoples problems, eh? They seem to want to go meet their maker and live a life of white air conditioning. I just so don't relate.

Don't worry about stupid numbers. Write what what you want, when you want. It doesn't have to be "meaningful."

storm1752 thanks I try....darn competiveness in me wants to generate more points. Im just not that loquatious.

@Bigwavedave Neither am I. Doesn't stop me. Instead of always generating your own points, reacting to others' points is also fun. As an agnostic, I enjoy putting a burr on the saddle of atheists' comments and arguments, for instance. In a spirit of honest discourse, naturally. That's just me. A lot of people put a lot of thought and research into their posts, and love to get feedback. I know I do. Not do research--I'm too lazy for that--but love to get feedback.
Posts? Just use lots of big words.

@MissKathleen lol...I don't really. just thinking out loud. Its a dangerous thing.

i find this site to be interesting & entertaining.
can't ask for much more.
doubt if i'll ever get to 8, either.

It seems like a long stretch to get to 8 from 7 . It's good to communicate with like minded people . I can't say that I know that many atheists other than those on agnostic . com
