For Trump to ignore reports, such as this, of Russia’s attempts to interfere in US elections, to joke with Putin about Russian interference in our elections, is startling ignorance at best and highly suggestive of treasonous intent.

It's now five years down the line from the date of this post. What have we learned?

  1. Trump stole classified documents, stored them with wanton disregard for national security, obstructed justice in the ensuing investigation.
  2. Tried to steal the 2020 election with an elaborate scheme involving fake electors and a violent attack on the Capitol.
  3. Has been found guilty of business fraud and ordered to pay hundreds of millions of dollars in fines and interest.
  4. Has been found guilty of rape and defamation, and ordered to pay over 90 million dollars in restitution, punitive damages, and interest.
  5. Will soon go on trial in Manhattan for election interference, business fraud, and tax fraud.
  6. Is openly saying what he will do if returned to power: dismantle the administrative state; gut environmental protections; invoke the Insurrection Act and use the US military against US citizens; fire all career civil servants and experts 8n government, replace them with sycophants and yes-men.
  7. Forward the agenda of Christian nationalists; do away with secularism, tear down the wall of separation between church and state.
  8. Establish concentration camps; deport millions of US residents, regardless of their contributions to American society.
  9. Suspend the Constitution and remain in power indefinitely.
  10. Back away from our NATO allies, allow Russia to "do whatever the hell they want" vis-a-vis Ukraine and other European countries.

Have I missed anything?

I think they both know it's just a game and Trump is so confident of the pliability of the public that he's not afraid to show it. Earlier presidents are respected more because they had the 'decency' to try to hide what they were doing. Trump is an education for anyone who wants to see the abuse laid out right in front of them. My worry is that nothing will be learned and the next president will be 'business as usual'.

They may think this a game. They may think enough of the public is fool enough for them to get away with “it.” What abuse are you talking about and why would you think the next president would take Russian meddling as business as usual and, essentially, ignore it.
