This post is a request to share news of good things happening in the USA right now. I'm feeling so pessimistic due to the current administration's...well...everything. The Fourth of July celebrates our independence, but let's be honest: it was only for land-owning (wealthy) white men, and we currently have people in power who seem to view that system as one they'd like to have back.

July 4, 1995...my family was at Walter Reed Hospital by the side of my father who died that afternoon from exposure to Agent Orange during the Vietnam war. He died peacefully and when the fireworks went off in DC, we just knew we lost a man who proudly served his country for 30 years.
Fast forward to July 4, 2012. What would have been my father's first great grandson was born. For the first time in years, my family celebrated a happy 4th of July...the fireworks this time were in celebration of a new life.
The point...life changes and there are good and bad times...we make it...we are Americans.

Best news of the day from my little corner of the USA? Rocky (photo attached) doesnt smell nearly as bad today as yesterday. We went to the beach yesterday and he found something dead the tide washed in a day or two ago, and rolled in it. A lot. Washed him in the creek, washed him in the tub, and it's now possible to be in the same room with him again.
It's the little victories, some days.
Most administrations are why alcohol was invented. This administration is why alcohol and drugs were invented.
