The creatures(my daughter’s lab mix Bella, my Chihuahua Matilda) are finally down for the night despite loud music, thunder, gunshots, and fireworks. Herbal treats, Rescue Remedy, and the Folk station on Alexa has knocked them out. Now it will be my turn.
How do your pets do with loud noises, and what works?
Happy 4th, ya’ll!
I always stay in on any firework holiday. My grand pup, Beau, (Chihuahua/Cocker) was terrified all night despite two CBD plus herbal treats. It was heart wrenching to not be able to alleviate his terror. My daughter, Matilda, (AmStaff) who was rescued from abuse was more annoyed than anything. She fell asleep!
My chihuahua is a Matilda! And I have a son named Beau.
I’m sorry for their upset. Miss Bella really hates fireworks. I feel awful not to be able to help more.
I live within walking distance of the fireworks. For Decades, I have placed my dogs in their car crate while I go view....they are accustomed to "strange" noises while in the car. Neighbors I asked to watch tell me they slept thru everything, every time.
when my baby gets too upset by them , I give him 2 benadryl, then he sleeps through it
I use that at home, 1/4 for my chihuahua.
@CarolinaGirl60 oh yea, the vet has told me not to exceed 1 per 25 lb
It is always a problem for pets when we humans like to make loud bangs for some strange reason . Years ago my cross lab bitch disappeared on 5 Nov, when we celebrated the non blowing up of parliament by setting off noisy fireworks, I found her a few days later at a nearby dog shelter where someone had taken her after finding her wandering a few miles from home. For the rest of her life she was terrified of any loud noise.
Maybe sedation is the only answer
Remember, remember the 5th of November...
@CarolinaGirl60 The poor dog certainly did
