I'm looking for songs which have a saxophone line. Do you know some interesting ones? Until now I have these two:
Shame on me...how could I forget about my beloved Pink Floyd:
Gerry Rafferty YOU'RE CRYING NOW sax cannot be excelled 1978 Baker Street
Nice!
"Se eu não te amasse tanto assim".
@Agnieszka you're welcome
Wow, I scanned all the way down to see if anyone had said Steely Dan and/or Donald Fagen! Much to my surprise, it appears not. ANYTHING by Donald Fagen, be it with Walter Becker or not, is just about some of the tastiest damn music I've heard. And I recognized 95% of the songs/musicians that were named. Seger, Springsteen, etc., check out Deacon Blues, or Janie Runaway! We're talking major badass saxophone! The guys don't mess around!
Some of the most iconic sax lines I can think of are:
Take 5 by Dave Brubeck
Careless Whisper by George Michael
Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty
Who can it be now? by Men at Work
And of course there’s the solo in Pink Floyd’s Money, Foreigner’s Urgent
Some of the most beautiful use of a full horn line period has gotta be this performance by Maceo Parker and James Brown’s hornline:
And another really sultry awesome outro sax solo by modern funk band Vulfpeck:
The two differing versions of the Sax tone are fun to compare. Here is different glamorized saxophone cover of the theme. If anybody else was partial to Monsieur Pink Panther, may you have fun remembering how it made you feel ! Do you have a favorite version of the sax melody.
Here are a few saxophone solos or with instrumentals.
HONKY TONK with Jimmy Smith on organ, Herman Riley on sax, Billy Butler on guitar.
Tequila - Saxophone Music and Backing Track by Johnny Ferreira
Billy Cobham's classic "Red Baron" with Everette Harp on saxophone
갈무리 - 임유리 (버든색소폰)
ZAPPA - Bolero
with Paul Carman (alto/soprano sax), Albert Wing (tenor sax), Kurt McGettrick (baritone sax)
As with the floyd, my suggestions are mostly tenor sax.
Check The Rolling Stones, particularly around the era of the album Exile on Main Street. That's Bobby Keys on sax. If you search the web for a list of songs he's on in the 1970's, it'll lead you to alot more.
And, in memory of Joao Gilberto's recent passing...check the first album of "Getz / Gilberto". That's Stan Getz, playin some sweet smooth shit!
