This article shows exactly what has happened in America since January 2017. Every time Democrats spar with Republicans, Trump wins. Every time freshman Democrats fuss with other Democrats, every time we the people fuss with our polar opposite party, Trump and his deplorables win. Germany once had this exact problem. That didn't work out so well.
Congressman drops gavel and abandons the chair
[amp.businessinsider.com]
I saw Congressmember Omar wearing a Palestinian head scarf in the Speakers Chair 2 hours ago with zero Rethuglicans in the Chamber passing AMENDMENT after AMENDMENT to the spy funding bill....our democracy remains shackled by illegal laws since 1914.....it will get better when 27 more states ratify the 1st AMENDMENT 50 thousand persons per Congressional DISTRICT send 6000+ honest locals to outvote the 435 deplorable incumbents bribed to pretend there are real differences in this zionist duopoly....Omar just speaks the truth months ago and 430 of her colleagues WANT HER expelled only Pelosi keeps her safe from rabid AIPAC puppets like Steny Hoyer
I'm polishing up my resume.... thinking a minor bureaucrat position with the SA.....
You make an astute observation. However how can we stand by and do nothing. That is as counterproductive as challenging it and losing. But, we must stand up to boorish and racist behavior no matter up.
IMO we may be at a racial tipping point. The racial genie is out of the bottle and cannot be put back in. If Trump and the Republicans want to fuel the fire, ultimately they will get burned.
@SeaGreenEyez
A momentary blip. It what happens in the long run that counts. Trump and Party has demonized the sqad. Its up to Pelosi to bring perspective.
You may be right on the long run. However, anytime an old paradigm is challenged, the old guard or those that are comfortable with the known rise up and find fault. You may be right that this may not be the right time to initiate an assault on the existing order. The price is high, which is giving Trump a victory in 2020.
But I am not opposed to the "Sqad". They are bringung up issies that have been around under the surface for a long time. 1) The 64' Voters Rights got rid of overt Jim Crow, but failed to rid us of institutional racism.
Roe brought to light the need for women to control their own bodies and that they have the right to be taken seriously as a women, and especially as a women of color.
That the present policies in Isreal are apartheid and being supported and financially funded by our own politicians, with an Evandelical push to hasten a hypothical second coming. and
ACA brought us closer to recognizing that health care should be a right and not just privilige of those with money. Their message is difficult and ultimately painful for some in this country to stomach. These are issues that will come to the forefront eventually.
Is this the right time given the stakes. Perhaps not if our goal is rid ourselves of Trump in 2020? But I am glad that someone has brought these issues to thevlight of day.
You pose strong arguments. I'm not sure Bernie, Elizabeth or Biden for that matter are the answer. Bernie and Biden are tone deaf to many undercurrents that are evolving in society. They are white males of my generation and that is not playing well in many circles. They think like white males and that has shown to be a problem.
Eluzabeth is forging new ground and backing it up with good policy ideas. She is the better bet of the three. I'm not sure of her ability to handle the nasty politics of Trump and his supporters. Not that she is not capable, its that she has integrity and that won't win the day in the underhanded, and ugly politics that Trump will bring.
The "Squads" time may have not come yet. They may be ahead of the curve, but are indicative of a growing undercurrent.
Right now, the best we can hope for is that Trump continues to wear the greater voting public down with his vitriol, sophomorics stunts and hate that he undermines himself. That is barring a candidate arising with a coherent plan, sufficient charisma, and intestinal fortitude to go toe to toe with Trump.
@t1nick ,
the squad's time will come when the totally corrupt financial system crashes & burns. unfortunately, it'll be too late to improve, or even save, social programs that most ppl rely on.
Listened to a similar description on yesterday's pbs news hour. Something like, when trump does/ says something extreme, extremist democrats respond in kind. Both appear extreme. His folks are invigorated, ‘our folks’ go at each other … and what’s left of the middle is turned off by both. ‘trump wins.’
